Arborist I is a five-day workshop combining classroom and field instruction for:
- New and beginning climbers.
- Tree workers who have some experience but little formal training in climbing or in safety
- Small business tree care owners and operators who want to increase their skills or learn more about training their employees.
- Urban foresters
Topics covered include:
- Safe and new climbing techniques
- Ropes and knots
- Pruning for the trade standards
- Tree removal techniques and rigging
- Aerial rescue
- Working in proximity to electrical hazards
- Chain saw usage, maintenance and safety
- Tree identification, structure and function
Upon satisfactory completion of the course, participants receive and ACRT Arborist I certificate. International Society of Arboriculture Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits are provided for ISA Certified Arborists.
Tuition for the course is $720 and includes:
- Personal gear and equipment for student’s use
- Personal copy of ACRT’s Working in Trees, a comprehensive text and reference book
- Personal copy of winter or summer Tree Finder Guide.
- Personal copy of ANSI Z133.1-2000 Tree Trimming Safety Standard.
- 40 continuing education credits for ISA members
- Eligibility for entry into ACRT’s Job Bank service
- A certificate
